![]() ![]() ![]() Only now, in the last fourteen months, are games starting to really require more than 4 GB vram, and effectively utilize 6 or more (at 4K). The graphics card companies, along with sponsored "thought leaders" and content creators, and people who want to feel justified in buying $4,000 worth of graphics card for their rig, have given an impression over the last few years that you need massive amounts of vram for games. Hardly any games actually utilize more than 4 GB vram at 1080p, and that is in 2020.Shogun 2 came out in early 2011. The Shogun 2 engine only needs around 2 GB vram, actually, to run with all graphics settings maxed. It wouldn't do much good to use more than that anyway, because you only need so much texture space and buffer. The engine simply wasn't coded to addesss more than 3 to 4 gigs of vram. Army *MST3K*.and in the graphic settings, it only recognizes roughly 2.9 GB. If you have any questions, drop me a line. With a few mods, I get what my ancient brain calls near-cinematic effects with only a little slowdown on some of the most detailed Workshop maps. I keep it on 512 mb and just accept that I do not have a gaming computer.īTW: If you tweak just a few settings, you can get lovely effects for your 3 gb by picking slightly lower settings. despite having 32 gb of RAM, my computer absolutely crawls on that setting. Warhammer and or WH2 has an "unlimited video memory" option. your computer will crawl and it is nearly impossible to manage a battle. I do NOT recommend increasing the number of units in a land stack over 20. I have not seen the trick for this around recently, so I may post it as a "mod." I am working on a metamod that has this as one part. ![]() You can also alter the number of units in a stack (land or sea), the number of people in a unit, and a few other fun things using the preferences script. I have been "hot-rodding" Shogun 2 for years, and I can get 3gb out of my computer (despite having only 512 mb dedicated to the graphics card), but I cannot get more (I have 32 gb RAM. The bad news is that is all you will get for your awesome awesome setup. The good news you are looking for is that Shogun 2 can use up to 3gb RAM. ![]()
